Why birds hide illness — and 7 early signs that get missed
Caged birds instinctively mask illness. The subtle early signs in budgies, which changes are emergencies, and what to monitor so you catch problems sooner.
In the wild, birds instinctively hide illness so they don't look weak to predators. That instinct doesn't change at home: early signals like weight loss or reduced activity often go unnoticed until the illness has progressed.
PirPeek was born to give this problem an engineering answer: a perch that hides measurement inside the bird's daily life. The bird lands, its weight is measured; time on the perch and environmental conditions are recorded. Owners decide with data instead of guesses, and walk into the vet's office with a concrete history.
We're building the project with passion, from the hardware to the app. Our goal is simple: longer, healthier lives for caged birds.
PirPeek is getting ready for launch. The perch prototype takes five readings with four sensors (weight, temperature, humidity, light and sound), and the data flows to the cloud. In the app, charts, QR pairing, live weighing, bird profiles, the care journal, reminders, the vet report and subscription plans are ready. We're now working on field testing and launch preparation.
Scale, temperature/humidity, light and sound sensors; Wi-Fi setup and cloud connection.
Home screen, theme and language infrastructure (Turkish/English, light/dark).
Weight, temperature, humidity, light, sound and perch-time charts; suitable-range guide and monthly trend.
Setup via the QR code on the perch's screen, Wi-Fi configuration, tare and scale calibration, live weighing.
MyBabies cards, mood and care journal, reminders and the incubation diary.
Plans, cloud photo backup, Memories and the 28-day vet report (PDF).
Trials in real cages, finishing touches and going on sale.
